Open Letter to the Atlantic

B”H

To Whom it may concern:

Shalom.

I read the article “Flemming Rose: The Reluctant Fundamentalist” by Simon Cottee and have this to say:
First of all, a true religion willingly accepts a critical eye and is tolerant of free speech as it’s tenets should be able withstand criticism or the onslaught of free speech. (There is no place in a free society where political correctness stifles free speech merely because some might be offended.)

The Jewish Prophet Elijah mocked the false prophets of Ba’al: (1 King’s 18)

“At noon Elijah mocked them, saying, ‘Cry aloud! Surely he is a god; either he is meditating, or he has wandered away, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.'”

Second of all, how is it an insult to Muhammad to depict him as a war monger? (He is dead!!!) The historical evidence shows that Muhammad was a war lord: His ordering the slaughter of 600 Jewish males at Yathrib evidences this facet of Islamic history.

Third, Muhammad (according to the Quran) got four historical facts wrong; had sex with Aisha when she was only nine years old (Hadith of Bukhari, Volume 5, #234) and therefore could not be a prophet:

1) He claims Miriam, the sister of Moshe (Moses) was the mother of Yeshki (Jesus), Quran – Suras 19:27-28, 3:35-36, 66:12; 2) (a), (b) and (c) he claims Haman of Megillat Esther was in the “court” of Pharaoh; (a) confusing the Building of the Tower of Babel with (b) Haman and (c) Pharaoh, Quran – Sura 40:36-37;

3) and he claims that Pharaoh used the Roman method of crucifixion as a form of the death penalty, Qur’an – Suras 7:124, 12:41, 20:71, 26:49; 38.12, 89:6-12; 4) and conflicting Islamic sources claim either Isaac or Ishmael was offered on the Altar by Avraham.

Fourth, the Jewish Prophet Daniel prophesied about Muhammad in general terms:
“he shall think to change the times and seasons,” “he shall disregard the desire of women,” “he shall honor the god of war,” “he shall exalt himself above all,” “he shall speak blasphemous words against the Most High,”

In closing, we are fortunate in America that there is a First Amendment which protects freedom of speech: The fundamental right to criticize “false religions” like Islam which pretend to be true religions…! The measure of freedom our Constitutional Republic guarantees is a safeguard against tyranny, despotism and intolerance.

kol tov,
Yochanan Ezra ben Avraham
